The Lakehead University Thunderwolves men’s golf team performed very well again in the second and final day at their first-ever OUA Championships by placing sixth at the tournament that completed play at the Royal Ottawa Golf Club in Ottawa on Tuesday.
Lakehead recorded a two-day team total of 630; good for sixth place at the 12-team championships. The University of Ottawa took the championships with a team score of 596.
Individually, Thunderwolves captain Andrew Scavarelli placed sixth with a two-day total of 151. The Wolves Cory Southon also played well, recording a 156 in the tourney.
David Lai shot 160, Aaron Pakylak finished at 163 and Dan Antilla recorded 178.
Coach Barry Caland was happy with the overall performance of the team. “We’re pretty please to finish in the top half at the championships even though we didn’t golf our best today. It’s something to build upon for next year.”
