Lakehead Athletics is pleased to recognize men’s hockey player Kris Hogg and women’s basketball player Lindsay Druery as the Thunderwolves Athletes of the Week for the week ending January 17, 2010.

Kris Hogg, Forward, Men’s Hockey

Junior forward Kris Hogg (Sicamous, British Columbia) scored two game-winning goals, adding another score and two assists during the Lakehead Thunderwolves’ weekend sweep of the Windsor Lancers at the Fort William Gardens in Thunder Bay, Ontario. His five-point weekend gives him 10 goals, nine assists for 19 points in OUA conference play.

In Friday’s 8-6 win, Hogg scored twice and added one assist to lead the ‘Wolves victory while Saturday, his short-handed goal was the eventual game-winner in Lakehead’s 8-2 blowout win. Hogg’s offensive exploits are even more impressive considering his role on the team’s top penalty-killing unit throughout the series.

Lindsay Druery, Forward, Women’s Basketball

Junior forward Lindsay Druery (Smithville, Ontario) averaged 16.0 PPG during the Thunderwolves’ weekend split with the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks at Waterloo, Ontario. Friday, Druery led the ‘Wolves with 23 points and added six rebounds to pace the team’s 84-61 win. The forward added nine points in Lakehead’s Saturday night defeat, tied for second on the team in scoring.
