Dobben named Athlete of the Week
THUNDER BAY,
Ont. – Lakehead Athletics is pleased to announce men’s hockey player Scott
Dobben as the final Thunderwolves Athlete of the Week of the 2009-10 varsity
season for the week ending March 28, 2010. Monday, the OUA honoured Dobben as
its Pioneer Petroleums Athlete of the Week.
In his final
week of play in a Lakehead Thunderwolves uniform, the fifth-year senior from
Drayton, Ontario had a stellar effort with four assists as his team went 1-1 at
the CIS men’s hockey championships on home ice at the Fort William Gardens in
Thunder Bay.
An OUA West
second team all-star, Dobben sparked a dominant first period for the Pack in
their 7-2 preliminary round defeat of the UQTR Patriotes by assisting on each
of the squad’s first three goals, Friday night. On Saturday, the two-way talent
never relented against a strong Alberta squad, added one more assist to his
tournament totals.
Dobben, an
assistant captain and top line centre finishes his run at Lakehead with 37
goals, 59 assists for 86 points in 82 games.
