Local Libero Commits to Lakehead

| Volleyball (W)

Alyssa Aune of Westgate Collegiate and Superior North Volleyball Club has confirmed her intention to stay in Thunder Bay to play for the Thunderwolves women’s volleyball team during the 2018-19 season.

“Alyssa is a strong passer and aggressive defender, and we know we are getting a player that will contribute right away. She will benefit learning from our all-star libero, Ciara Zarn while contributing to us right away as a serving and passing substitute.” – Coach Chris Green

A 5’2″ Libero, Aune is a well-rounded player who has grown over the past 3 years, and now has made it official that she wants to continue her growth in this game with the Thunderwolves.

Aune explains, “I’ve played multiple sports in the community my whole life and through my club career I’ve played for coach Green and I thought this would be the best fit for me. I have benefited so much from my High School coaches and club coaches who have pushed me to work my hardest. Being involved with SNVC, I’ve had the opportunity to work with the Thunderwolves and saw the type of organization they are and said to myself that this is where I want to be. ”

With her goal of a Kinesiology degree, and working for the team to achieve success, the Thunderwolves will continue to grow from the dedication and work ethic of Alyssa for years to come.

Coach Green says, “Recruiting is all about what you need immediately and what you need in the very near future. It’s about the development of the player and assisting in their growth with current players who transfer their experience and knowledge. That’s the position Alyssa is in and we will benefit from her as a team.”
