Thunderwolves Nordic Ski Welcome Aaron Warkentine to Roster

| News, Nordic Skiing

Lakehead Varsity Nordic Skiing is pleased to announce the addition of Aaron Warkentine to our 2020/2021 Roster.  Aaron, who hails from Winkler, Manitoba, has represented the Boundary Trails Nordic Ski Club. Aaron had a solid junior career that has seen him represent Manitoba on a national level.  Aaron follows in the footsteps of his brother Levi, who is entering his 5th and final year on the varsity squad.

“We are very excited to have Aaron join the fold this year.” said Nordic Skiing Head Coach Adam Kates. “Like his brother, Aaron comes to our team with the kind of work ethic we look for and the talent to make a huge impact on our men’s program for many years to come.”

Aside from the family connection, Aaron has close ties to Thunder Bay having competed locally at major events over the past few years.  “I chose Lakehead in part as I’ve raced at the annual Thunder Bay O-cup for the past several years which, personally has always been the most enjoyable racing of the season. In addition to being relatively close to home, I know that the program is one of the best in the country and I look forward to joining a team filled with dedicated and competitive skiers at a similar if not greater skill level to push myself.”

Aaron will study General Sciences at Lakehead in the fall and says that “coming to Lakehead University means I can be a part of a higher caliber skiing community, which I believe will provide an ideal environment in which to improve.”
