Open Gym/Field Policies
- All facility policies apply while attending open gym. Please review our policies here. Below we’ve highlighted some specific Open Gym/Field Policies
- CALENDARS: Please review the calendars prior to your visit to ensure they have open availability. Online calendars can be found at thunderwolves.ca/hours and show both open and closed blocks. On the Wolf Den South Court Calendar, if there is a sport indicated that means that sport has priority access to that court for that time block.
- TIME LIMITS: The use of our gym/field are first come first serve during the below indicate open hours, however users are asked to keep to a 2 hour limit on our open gym/field areas if other members are waiting to use this space. This policy is to try and help ensure all paying members have access to open gym.
- VOLLEYBALL NETS: In order to set up a volleyball net, groups must have at minimum 8 players at all times. Please note that volleyball is only permitted in the upstairs Wolf Den gym.
- SHOE/BAG/COAT POLICY: Outdoor shoes, coats, and bags are not permitted in the gymnasiums. Please use our free day lockers in the locker room to store your belongings. Overnight lockers are available for purchase at the front desk.
- During heavy traffic times, our facility staff reserve the right to ask user groups to change playing location to ensure everyone using open gym can do so safely. We also reserve the right to turn away day pass sales should traffic levels be too high.

Wolf Den Open Gym Times
In order to help meet the demand of the high traffic levels of Open Gym, Lakehead Athletics will be piloting “Priority Sport Scheduling” on our Wolf Den South Court starting on Monday, March 31st.
Our calendars online will now be split by North Court and South Court for the Wolf Den. The South Court (furthest from the Front Desk) will now have assigned priority sports during peak traffic hours (4 pm to 10 pm weekdays, and all day weekends). The online open gym calendars will have blocks that say either “Sport – Open Gym” (e.g. Basketball – Open Gym) or “Open Gym – General Use”. This will help ensure all sports have designated times within our facility!
During the “Open Gym – General Use” blocks, our current policies will still apply and allow for flexibility with what sports are running on a first-come, first-serve basis.
We have created an FAQ regarding this change which can be accessed here. Users are encouraged to connect with the Front Desk if they have any questions. The email for our Front Desk is athleticsfrontdesk@lakeheadu.ca
