The women’s basketball team rallied late in the fourth, but were unable to overcome a late 13 point deficit, instead taking a 70-64 loss to the Bemidji State Beavers.
“We struggled from the ‘shorter’ three point line today, going 2-for-13 and Bemidji really out-worked us in the second half at times,” said coach Jon Kreiner, whose team was unable to hit from outside until the fourth quarter.
Lakehead trailed at halftime by 32-27.
Gillians Lavoie was also active on the glass, grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds and veteran forward Katelyn Zen scored 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting.
“We had a tough time defending their post play,” added Kreiner, “…which is one area we need to improve headed into league play.”
The women’s team begins the OUA regular season next weekend, Nov 6-7 at home vs the Guelph Gryphons.
