Za’Keea Sa’eed-El Commits to Thunderwolves

| Basketball (W), News

Coach Jon Kreiner continued to re-load his backcourt this week, with Bloomington, Minnesota’s Za’Keea Sa’eed-El committing to the Thunderwolves.

“We have added a very strong, athletic and smart point guard to our program,” said Kreiner in a radio interview Thursday morning. “Za’Keea has worked very hard to get to this point and we are extremely happy she has committed to Lakehead University. She’s a tough match up at both ends of the court, very quick and extremely strong. She will provide toughness, leadership and experience making our backcourt one of the deepest in the conference.”

Standing at 5’1″, Sa’eed-El has overcome what she lacks in height with hustle and playing intelligent basketball during her two years at Anoka Ramsey CC in Bloomington. She lead her team to the National Junior College D3 tournament, and has amassed a long list of all star awards along the way, including being named the national player of the week in January.

“I spent a lot of time thinking about where to further my college experience,” says Sa’eed-El. “In my two years at Community College I’ve learned a lot about what I want in the future, and Lakehead is just that. I’m excited to not only continue my education, but my basketball career too. With a great coaching staff and great teammates I’m blessed and looking forward to being a Thunderwolf next season!”

Za’Keea is enrolled in Lakehead’s Kinesiology program, and has an interest in studying business as well. At Anoka Ramsey CC she averaged 11.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game.

“Za’keea Sa’eed-El is one of the quickest and most athletic kids we’ve had at Anoka Ramsey in my 10 years here,” says coach Dave DeWitt. “She can be a lock down defender and can also consistently beat people off the dribble. She was a big reason we finished the year 22-8 and made our 15th National tournament appearance. As her confidence continues to grow she will bring a lot of excitement to Lakehead University Basketball.”
