The Lakehead curling team competed at the OUA Championships this past weekend in Sault Ste. Marie.
The women’s team finished second in their pool going 5-2 in the round robin but lost in the bronze medal game to Brock 6-5. The men’s team finished the round robin 2-5 but did not move on the playoff round.
Thunderwolves Lead Erin Tomalty was named a First Team All-Star while Vice Kendra Lemieux made the Second Team. Dick Henderson was named Women’s coach of the year while the Late Bill Charlebois was named Men’s Coach of the Year.
The Brock Badgers men’s team and Laurier Golden Hawks women’s team were crowned the OUA Curling Champions.
The six medalling teams will advance to the national championships. The U Sports national curling championships are being hosted by the University of Alberta in March at the Leduc Recreation Centre. U of A will also be hosting the 2018 Canadian Mixed Doubles Championship and 2018 CCAA Curling Canada Championship.
