The Thunderwolves led 42-31 at the half and held Brandon to just 15 points in the entire second half, allowing 4 total field goals, while scoring 22 points per quarter themselves.
As a team, the Thunderwolves had 25 assists and only 13 turnovers. They had 16 steals and 21 team offensive boards compared to the Bobcats 13.
Karissa Kajorinne was the leading scorer for all players with 21 points. Nikki Ylagan had 18 points, 4 assists and Kielly McDonough had 13 points going 4-7 from the three. Sofia Lluch also had 12 points, 5 assists, and 6 rebounds. Thunderwolf Leashja Grant did not play in today’s game due to injury.
“Great team effort today. We really came out strong and sustained that energy for 40 minutes. It is really good to see us getting better on defense and it is good to know without Leashja in the line up we can play a different style and be successful.”- Coach Jon Kreiner
Today’s win named the Thunderwolves the BOB FM Tournament Champion for the second year in a row with Nikki Ylagan being named tournament MVP and Leashja Grant being named an all-star.
The Thunderwolves will rest for a few days now before competing in the Regina tournament.
