Women’s Hoops Win, 65-41 Over Bisons

The women’s basketball team completed a successful weekend in Winnipeg, finishing it off with a 65-41 win over the Manitoba Bisons.
Lakehead ran out to a 17-4 lead with stifling defense in the first quarter. They used a 23-13 advantage in the third quarter to put the game out of reach and cruised from there.
All but one of Lakehead’s players got on the score sheet.
Blair McNaughton, Gillian Lavoie and Katelyn Zen had 9 points each.
Montana Kinzel led the Bisons with 12 points.
“Overall it was a good weekend for our team,” said coach Jon Kreiner. “Gillian Lavoie was out most consistent player and we got some good experience for our young team.”
The women’s team return to Winnipeg next weekend to compete in the Manitoba Bisons’ Shoot for the Cure Tournament.
