Katelyn Andrea broke her team out of their holiday ‘funk’, scoring 26 points with 15 rebounds en route to an 81-68 win over the Brock Badgers Wednesday morning.
A day after scoring 33 points in the entire game, Lakehead hung 29 on the Badgers in the opening quarter, and kept the pressure on, scoring another 24 in the second frame to lead 53-33 at halftime.
“Well we found our offense in the form of third year Katelyn Andrea,” noted coach Jon Kreiner. “She had the best game of her career and I’m very proud of her.”
Andrea wasted no time on Wednesday, scoring 14 points in just 7 minutes of court time in the first quarter. She had 26 points through three quarters and was finally held in check by the Badgers in the final 10 minutes of the game.
Melissa Tatti was the top Badger with 14 points and 6 rebounds.
Kreiner continued, “The rest of the team followed Katelyn’s lead as Jerika scored 10 first half points and we had 29 bench points on the game. We don’t play a league game until January 23 so we have a lot of time to work on what we saw this week.”
Lakehead resumes regular season play Jan 23 in Sault Ste Marie vs the Algoma Thunderbirds.
