Boxscore

Blair McNaughton 14-15The game started slow for both teams, but Windsor eventually pulled away, up 10-3 after five minutes and leading 18-10 at the end of one quarter.

After Windsor made a run to open up a 15-point lead early in the second quarter, Lakehead did respond with a pair of Blair McNaughton three’s. Lakehead’s defense proved to be unable to contain the aggressively rebounding Lancers, who got extra possessions on the offensive glass.

Windsor restored their 15-point cushion by halftime, leading 40-25.

McNaughton hit three three-pointers in the first half but would miss her remaining long-range attempts, finishing with 11 points on 4-of-10 shooting to go with 8 rebounds.

As the second half unfolded, Windsor expanded their lead to more than 20. The Thunderwolves would trim the lead back down to 11 midway through the fourth quarter, but couldn’t get it down any further.

Katelyn Andrea was the leading scorer for Lakehead once again, this time with 15 points with 7 rebounds. Jerika Baldin scored 9 points and made a game-high 10 assists.

Coach Jon Kreiner:

“The back to back travel days caught up to us and we really struggled early getting our legs going. Blair McNaughton kept us in it and we made a run late but our lack of focus on Windsor’s shooters in the first half ended up costing us. I’m very proud of our young team. We’re playing very well right now and it’s too bad we aren’t in playoffs but I’m very happy with our development and look forward to next season.”
