Game Summary

Women’s Basketball (1-2) are hoping to get another win against the York Lions (0-3) tonight!

Your Thunderwolves starting line up are Paula Lopez, Ally Burke, Hana Whalen, Kelly-Ann Coulombe & Claire Wiersema.

Period 1 saw the York Lions take the lead with 14-6, but Lakehead started to close that gap with Kirpa Brar bring the 2, 3 pointers again tonight to bring the score to 12-16 with l:50 left. York Lions took the lead with 18-16 to finish the 1st.

Period 2 saw Claire Wiersema bring it to a tie just 30 seconds in. York would take back the lead at 33-31 with just under 5 minutes left in the first half of the game. Ally Burke is leading Lakehead with 10 points and Kirpa Brar is just behind here with 9 points all from 3 pointers! Kirpa Brar is on FIRE tonight all of her points are from 3’s! At the end of the 1st half the Thunderwolves lead 43-39!

Period 3 saw both teams start to get things fired up even more but Lakehead kept the edge on the lead and finished the 3rd period with a 59-53 lead. Ally Burke is still leading in points with 20 and Kirpa Brar is just behind with 16.

Period 4 saw Kirpa Brar unfortunately head to the locker room after what was a stellar performance! Sara Azzolini would get a 3 pointer to make the crowd go wild giving the Thunderwolves a 67-55 lead with 7 minutes left to play! York put up the numbers but couldn’t get take the lead in the end. Your Thunderwolves take the win with 68-62!

Next weekend the girls are headed to Countries Capital, to take on the Ottawa Gee-gees on the 24th and Carleton Ravens on the 25th. Watch the Thunderwolves on OUA tv!
