The Lakehead men’s and women’s basketball teams are off to St. Catharines this weekend to take on the Brock Badgers in a weekend doubleheader. These are the last two away games of the regular season for the Wolves.
Women’s Basketball (12-8)
Brock is currently 6-14 and 7th in the OUA West. The Badgers have a 5-5 record at home and recently lost to Waterloo (47-44) and Laurier (73-58) last week.
“Brock is one of the top defensive teams in the OUA. First in 3PT field goal defense and fourth in overall field goal defense. They had solid rebounding and when healthy, have a diverse group of scorers. As a physical team, Brock doesn’t allow anything easy so we will have to be very disciplined on both ends of the floor, moving the ball, taking good shots and keeping them off the free throw line.“- Coach Jon Kreiner
The Wolves are coming off two losses to McMaster this past weekend and are looking to solidify their position on the leaderboard as they soon enter the post-season.
Men’s Basketball (2-18)
Brock is first in the OUA West with a record of 18-2. The Badgers are second in the U SPORTS Top Ten Rankings with their only two losses of the season coming from Ottawa and Carleton.
“Brock is a terrific team with a number of talented players. Their two bigs in Dani Elgadi and Cassidy Ryan form one of the best front-courts in the country. We will need to do a good job of battling on the low block and keeping them off the glass. It’s a great atmosphere to play in and i’m looking forward to our guys competing for 40 minutes both nights.” – Coach Ryan Thomson
Elgadi averages 18.1 points per game and is one of the top three rebounders in the league with 9.7 per game.
