The Lakehead men’s and women’s basketball teams are off to Windsor this weekend to take on the University of Windsor Lancers on Friday and Saturday night.
Women’s Basketball (12-4)
Coach Kreiner:
“This is a huge test for us as we head to Windsor who we are currently tied with in the standings. Windsor is the best shooting team in the OUA with four legitimate volume shooters and they also have a great front court, lead by Emily Prevost who is the team’s leader in points and rebounds as well as shooting over 50% from the field. We will need to be ready to compete for 80 minutes. Tough defense, solid rebounding, great ball movement and taking good shots will be key.”
Similar to the Thunderwolves, Windsor is 12-4 finding themselves in the top 3 of the OUA West. Prevost is averaging 15.5 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. Windsor also has Nyamuoch Teny who has one of the highest three-point percentages (45%) in the league, hitting 7 total last weekend against Brock.
Men’s Basketball (2-14)
“Windsor is a talented team capable of scoring a lot of points in a hurry. They play free and move the ball unselfishly. We’re going to need to be ready to guard multiple actions and have multiple efforts to be successful. Windsor is always a fun place to play and we’re looking forward to it” – Coach Ryan Thomson
Windsor (7-9) is fourth in the OUA West and has won some big games this season. They are averaging 80 points per game and have a 4-2 record at home.
The Wolves are coming off a positive weekend split against the Waterloo Warriors, where they won Friday night 98-89 and lost 80-74 on Saturday.
