It was a big year for the Thunderwolves Women’s Basketball Team – three athletes will bring their strong presence back to the court this weekend for the 12th OUA Women’s Showcase Game this Saturday at York University.
Nikki Ylagan, third team OUA All-star and Sofia Ainsa Lluch, OUA All Rookie Team Allstar will join defensive powerhouse Tiffany Reynolds who is filling in for OUA MVP Leashja Grant on the court representing Lakehead for the province. Ylagan and Reynolds, both previous Thunderwolves Rookies of the Year, contributed considerably to the team’s success with Ylagan’s significant 3-point average and Reynolds’ strength and presence on the defensive end. Lluch added 5.2 points per game in her first season.
“I am extremely thrilled that Lakehead University Women’s Basketball Program will have three of it’s student-athletes playing in the OUA Showcase Game this Saturday,” Coach Jon Kreiner says. Ylagan and Lluch will be donning the dark jerseys for Coach Belanger of University of Toronto while Reynolds will represent McMaster Coach Burns, wearing white. “Nikki, Sofia and Tiffany are all excited to be a part of this great women’s basketball showcase and OUA has done a great job over the years of highlighting women’s basketball in a power conference. It should make for a fun and exciting game and I cannot wait to watch it!”
The Game tips off at 5:00pm this Saturday, May 4th at York University. You can watch all the action and cheer on our Thunderwolves from afar on OUA.tv.
