The Lakehead Thunderwolves men’s basketball team picked up their fourth win of the season tonight, defeating the Waterloo Warriors by a score of 79-68 Friday night.

The Thunderwolves came out hot, scoring 24 points in the first quarter. By half time, Lakehead’s men’s basketball team held the lead by six points.

The final two quarters were a battle for both teams. The Warriors scored 36 points in the second half, but the Thunderwolves recorded 38 to hold onto the lead and win the game.

Thunderwolves fans in attendance were awarded an exciting game that saw Lock Lam, Chume Nwigwe and Jamani Barrett each perform a dunk.

“Good team win tonight against a pesky Waterloo team. Those guys play hard all the time,” said head coach Ryan Thomson.

Isaiah Traylor was an offensive force to be reckoned with, finishing the game leading the Thunderwolves with 24 points.

Alston Harris and Jamani Barrett also played solid offensive games, finishing with 17 and 13 points respectively. Lock Lam made 8 rebounds to lead the team defensively.

Waterloo’s Simon Petrov and Nedim Hodzic combined to score 45 points, over half of the Warriors total.

The Thunderwolves will be back on the court Saturday, Nov. 9 to take on the Laurier Golden Hawks.

“We have to be ready to go tomorrow with more intensity from the start,” said Thomson.

The two teams will face off at 8:00 p.m. at the C.J. Sanders Fieldhouse.
