The Lakehead men’s basketball team took down the University of Winnipeg Wesmen, 90-83 tonight in the Thunderdome.

“Great team win tonight. Our guys played hard and competed. The back to back games versus the same opponent is great preparation for our conference play. Hopefully our guys understand what we’ll face tomorrow and will be prepared for it.” – Coach Manny Furtado

The Thunderwolves started the game out strong with a 22-19 lead after the first quarter. The Wesmen went on a run during the second, gaining some momentum that gave them a 43-40 lead at the half. Lakehead was able to bounce back in the next two quarters and held off the Wesman for the win.

Fourth-year Nick Burke led the T-wolves with 25 points and 6 rebounds.

Billy Yaworsky from the Wesmen had a double-double with 18 points, 12 rebounds.

The Wesmen and Thunderwolves face each other again tomorrow at 8pm in the Thunderdome.
