Game Review

The Lakehead Men’s Basketball team lost a tough non-conference game, 79-78, to the Winnipeg Wesmen tonight at the Duckworth Centre in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg had a 26-16 lead after the first quarter, but the Thunderwolves bounced back outscoring the Wesmen 26-10 in the second that put the Wolves up 42-36 at the half. The two teams continued to go back and forth for the remainder of the game and Lakehead had an opportunity to win the game with less than 3 seconds left on the clock.  However their final shot was just off the mark, leaving the Wesmen with a one point victory.

“Our guys battled all night and gave it everything they had. We had our chances down the stretch but just missed some wide open looks when it mattered most.” Coach Manny Furtado

Lequan Cseri-Hylton was the leading scorer for the Wolves with 21 points, hitting 7 threes. Kache Kopec and Jack Bull each put up 13 and 11 points respectively.

The Thunderwolves will play their last non-conference game tomorrow, October 21st at 8pm vs. Manitoba.
