Geisel and Routier named as OUA West All-Stars

| Volleyball (W)

Ontario University Athletics (OUA) is pleased to announce the women’s volleyball major award winners and all-stars from the West Division with Thunderwolves Rheanna Geisel and Meghan Routier being recognized.

Fourth-year Rheanna Geisel was named as a Second Team All-Star and has proven all year to be a constant leader on the court. From Dauphin, Manitoba, Geisel finished in the top 10 in almost every category and she did this while moving from 3 years as a middle to playing fully as a left side.

“This award for her is a complete credit to her fearless attitude to do what is best for the team. Not many can go from never passing in the OUA to passing on every single serve. Her teammates made this transition possible with Libero Ciara Zarn and fellow left-side Leah Mousseau providing support to her in her new position. We can’t be more proud as a team to have another athlete from Lakehead named to the OUA West All-Star Selection.”- Coach Chris Green

This year, Meghan Routier was named to the OUA All-Rookie Team. Routier came to Lakehead from Ottawa, Ontario and was previously a part of the nationally accredited Ottawa Mavericks 18U Bronco. At 5’10, Routier is an aggressive and athletic attacker that has stepped up during the season when needed. Meghan had a great first year and really proved her future potential as a Thunderwolf.

“Meghan has just begun to tap into her potential. This young lady has played 3 positions this year and succeeded in all of them. Her character is undeniable, her future is bright, and all of her teammates supported her throughout the year.  We are very proud of her recognition and we know she will be a steady and reliable performer for many years yet to come.”
