| Basketball (M), News

Men (2-3 non-conf)

The Lakehead Men’s Basketball team is heading to British Columbia this weekend to play their last 3 non-conference games before the regular season begins on November 5th.

“This is an important weekend for our team. We will be able to tell if we have been improving over the last couple weeks.”- Coach Furtado

First the men will face the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack (1-2 non-conference) on Thursday night. The WolfPack was first in the Explorer Division last year with a record of 16-4 and made it to the Final 8, but lost to the National Championship winners, Carleton, in the quarterfinals.

On the following day, the ‘Wolves will go on to play the University of Northern British Columbia Timberwolves, who were 4-16 in the Explorer Division last year.

Lastly, Lakehead will challenge the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds (5-1 non-conference) who have already won a handful of games during non-conference play this season and are returning multiple key players. The Thunderbirds finished 2nd in the Pioneer Division last year and placed 5th overall at Nationals.

“We’re playing some good experienced teams that will help prepare us for our regular season” – Coach Furtado
