Men’s basketball team to host Ryerson, Toronto

| Basketball (M), News

Lakehead’s men’s basketball team is back in action this weekend, playing in the late slot Friday and Saturday night at the Thunderdome. The men enter at 2-6, and hope to end the first half of regular season play on a positive note after two recent home losses—including a triple-overtime stunner.

“Collectively last weekend was probably our best weekend of effort and activity for 80 minutes,” Thunderwolves head coach Ryan Thomson says.

The Ryerson Rams come to Thunder Bay Friday, and the men’s teams face off following the matchup of nationally-ranked women’s teams. The Ryerson men are 9-0, and currently first in the OUA East. The Toronto Blues feature in the Saturday night game, and they enter the weekend at 3-6, and seventh in the OUA East.

“This weekend we need to do a better job of taking care of the ball, the defensive glass, and limiting our defensive breakdowns,” Thomson says. “This is our last weekend of regular season games before the break, which gives us another opportunity to get better and continue finding out who we are as a team.”

The last basketball games of 2018 at the Thunderdome take place Friday, November 30th and Saturday, December 1st. The women’s games begin at 6pm, and the men follow at 8pm each night.
