The men’s basketball team has announced another recruiting commitment for the 2015-16 season: 6’4″ shooting guard Brandon Persad, of Thornhill, Ontario.

Persad will complete his studies at Thornlea Secondary School in a few weeks.

“We are very pleased in having Brandon commit to Lakehead,” says head coach Manny Furtado. “We are getting a great student athlete that is dedicated and willing to work hard off and on the court.”

“Brandon comes from a great family and it shows in his character. He’s respectful, has a positive attitude and works extremely hard in the classroom and on the court,” says Persad’s high school coach, Shane James.

James continues, “I think Brandon has flown under the radar for much of his career and is one of the best high school shooters in Ontario. Lakehead is a great place for Brandon and is in good hands under Coach Manny Furtado. I look forward to watching Brandon compete in the CIS.”

Brandon PersadPersad was impressed during his visit to Lakehead’s campus.

“The moment I experienced the support and sense of community that Lakehead offers, I knew it was the right fit for me. I look forward to growing academically, athletically and as a human being and undertaking this journey as a Thunderwolf.”
