Thunderwolves Cross Country looking forward to first race of the season

| Cross Country, News

Thunderwolves cross country will finally get to see some action this Saturday, Sept. 28, as they travel south for the Roy Griak Invitational.

This will be the team’s first race of the season due to the cancellation of the UMD Invitation back in early September.

Lakehead will only be bringing four men and three women from the roster down to Minneapolis for the race.

The women will be competing in the Suzy Wilson Women’s Maroon Race at 11:10 AM, and the men will follow shortly after at 12:20 in the Jo Rider Men’s Maroon Race. Both races combine DII and DIII schools.

“This is one of the biggest and most competitive cross-country meets in North America,” said Head Coach Kip Sigsworth.

Among the group travelling to the race will be Rebekkah Pyle, who placed 8th last year, and Colin Warwick, who placed 58th.

The athletes not competing in Minnesota this weekend will be racing in the Chippewa Challenge on Sunday.
