Thunderwolves defeat nationally ranked Voyageurs

The Lakehead Thunderwolves extended their winning streak to six games by defeating the nationally-rank Laurentian Voyageurs 73-59 on Friday night at the CJ Sanders Fieldhouse. 

The Thunderwolves improve to 12-3 and remain undefeated in the new year, while Laurentian drops to 10-5.

“A good win against a solid Laurentian team,” said Thunderwolves head coach Ryan Thomson.

“Coach Swords always has those guys ready to compete it was a good test for us.” 

Lakehead forward Lock Lam had another monster game for the Thunderwolves, recording 14 points, 15 rebounds, seven blocks, four assists and three steals. Isaiah Traylor also had a great game for the Thunderwolves, finishing with 21 points and 10 rebounds. 

Two-time USports men’s basketball player of the year, Kadre Gray, finished the game with 15 points and eight rebounds for the Voyageurs, while Sam Ivey led the Laurentian team with 19 points and eight rebounds.

The Thunderwolves will look to continue their winning streak against the Nipissing Lakers during the Thunderwolves annual Think Pink games on Saturday, Jan. 25. The tip-off is set for 8:00 pm.
