Thunderwolves to visit RMC and Queen’s

| Volleyball (W)

The Lakehead women’s volleyball team is on the road this weekend as they face RMCC and Queen’s on Saturday and Sunday.

Coach Green:

“With the playoffs out of reach, pride and commitment to the future is at hand this weekend. With RMCC on Saturday and Queens on Sunday, the Kingston Road trip is always tough. RMCC is improving weekly and as a young group they are hungry for their first win. I have been in their shoes I know what that is like and I know our athletes better be prepared for this hungry group. Coach Joely Christian is one of the best coaches in the OUA and has her teams always prepared. Their youth, like ours, have struggled at times managing the plans, but we know that week by week RMCC is a competitive group. We have to be focused on a tough serving game and a strong defensive performance.”

RMCC is 0-14 this season and will be fighting for a win this weekend. They currently average 6 kills and 14 digs per set.

“Queen’s is a team with size and athleticism. Coach Mike Ling is creating a group that has a future sooner rather than later. With a predominant outside attacker, our blockers and defence will be tested again. Queen’s is a physical group and a group we like to match up against. Our success will be based solely on preparations to be physical and tactical at the same time.”-Coach Green

Queen’s (6-8) is ranked 5th in the OUA East, winning 3 out of their last 5 games and are 3-3 at home.

Lakehead remains 1st in the league for total assists and 2nd for total block solos. Kailan Robinson leads with the highest number of kills and Jessica Korchak leads the with highest number of blocks per set in not only the OUA but in all of Canada.

The Thunderwolves are hungry for a win as they were swept by the University of Guelph this past weekend. With only three games left in the season, the Thunderwolves will be looking to finish on a positive note.
