Thunderwolves volleyball heads to Hamilton for McMaster Thanksgiving Classic

| News, Volleyball (W)

The Lakehead Thunderwolves women’s volleyball team will be competing at the McMaster Thanksgiving Classic in Hamilton, ON this weekend.

“We always enjoy going to Hamilton over Thanksgiving. We have been in this tournament for many years and it always is the tune-up before the beginning of our regular season,” said head coach Craig Barclay.

The tournament starts with quarterfinal matches on Thursday, Oct. 10, semifinals on Friday, and finals and placement matches on Saturday.

The Thunderwolves quarterfinal match will be against the Ryerson Rams at 6:00 PM.

“This will be a good weekend as we get to see OUA teams in action for the first time this year. We will have three matches versus OUA opponents and we have also added two scrimmages against two college teams,” said Barclay.

“This tournament serves as a great opportunity to see how we have improved since our last tournament and also provide valuable information as we set up for our regular season in two weeks.”

At the same tournament last year the Thunderwolves went 2-1 and finished fifth. After losing their first match to McMaster, the Thunderwolves bounced back by defeating Guelph in the consolation semifinals and Brock in the placement match.
