Track Team Runs Well at St Thomas and Twin Ports Invite

| Track & Field
The Lakehead Track team had a good weekend as they competed at the University of St Thomas Invite on Friday night and the University of Wisconsin – Superior Twin Ports Invites on Saturday.
On Friday night, Tia Lampo placed 1st in the 200m in 26.70 and 2nd in the 400m with a time of 58.96. Rebekkah Pyle continues to impress placing 2nd in the women’s 3000m run in 10:08.64, currently ranking 5th in U SPORTS and 3rd in the OUA. Derek Patterson placed  2nd in the mile in 4:27.97.
“Good meet for us tonight.  It was great to see lots of our athletes taking advantage of the opportunity to compete and showing some real good progress from last weekend.  Tia is looking very strong and I am excited to see what she is able to do as the year progresses.  Rebekkah ran super tough and showed great courage tonight – she looked like she was in trouble at a couple of points in the race but hung on and was rewarded with an over 20s personal best.” – Coach Kip Sigsworth
At the Twin Ports Invite, the women’s team placed 1st in the 4 X 200m relay (1:50.88), Sprint Medley Relay (4:17.68) and Distance Medley Relay (13:02.23)
“We focused on the relay events today and it was a fun way to get the athletes another opportunity to compete and work on things.  I was impressed with the teams focus today and how they competed despite this being their second meet in less than 24h.This weekend was just what we needed before heading into the heart of our season starting with the Bison Classic in two weeks time.” – Coach Kip Sigsworth
