The women’s volleyball team (4-13) host the Waterloo Warriors (4-13) for their final home games of the season on Friday and Saturday evening at 7pm in the Thunderdome.

Saturday will also serve as the annual Senior Night, as Lakehead bids farewell to 5th year veterans Breanne Hilhorst and Jasmine Fox.

These games are also the final ones of the regular season, with Lakehead needing to win both games and get some help from Nipissing and York in order to surpass the Windsor Lancers (5-12) and Western Mustangs (5-12) in the OUA West standings.

“Waterloo will be a formidable opponent and a great way to end our home season. They come in under a new head coach [Richard Eddy] and a new direction. This young roster is very much a mirror image of ours here at Lakehead,” says coach Chris Green.

“They’re a team that is up and coming, led by senior Natasha Spaling, along with left sides Gwozdz and Mackenzie in their total attempts. The three of them are the keys as they have a combined 1081 attempts and a total of 330 kills. Kristen Bartmann has clearly defined herself as one of the West’s top young Libero’s.”

Lakehead has to make sure it stays focused on limiting their errors and keeping their game smart and effective.

Green continues, “It’s a special weekend for us, as we send off veterans Breanne Hilhorst and Jasmine Fox. This seniors have played their 5 years as Thunderwolves with class.”

Webcast coverage will be available via OUA TV.
