Wolves Face McMaster and Guelph

| Volleyball (W)

The Lakehead women’s volleyball team (3-9) has another tough weekend on the road as they will take on the top OUA West team, McMaster on Friday and Saturday night followed by a rematch of Guelph on Sunday.

McMaster (10-1) is a very strong and experienced team that is led by senior setter Caitlyn Genovy and an extremely dominant and physical middle in Maicee Sorensen.

“Our job will be to tactically serve to create trouble for their offense to run and then to make sure our blockers and defense are in sync. Our athletes do not fear any size and we have to just make sure we are visually and mentally focused on what we need to do to execute the game plan. We know we can compete at the net and behind the 3m line, we just have to remain on task for a full match,” says Coach Chris Green about the upcoming weekend.

The Thunderwolves played Guelph (3-9) a few weeks ago, losing 3-1 and will face them once more on Sunday.

“We may have had our worst passing night of the season earlier against Guelph, and it showed in our offensive productivity. Guelph has some targets we have to exploit, and in saying that clearly, we do too, so we will spend a lot of time working on our plan to defend what we know they will attack.”
