Wrestling to Host Dual Meet

| News, Wrestling

The Lakehead Wrestling team is hosting a dual meet this weekend with Algoma University and Laurentian University on Saturday, October 22.

“The Duals are a good way to see team against team and are spectator friendly. The dual format makes it easy to follow the teams progress as the event moves through the weight classes, starting from lightest to heaviest”, comments Coach Clayton.

The duadana-campbellls start at 10:00am with Lakehead vs. a combined team of Algoma and Laurentian, followed by Algoma vs. Laurentian. Once all the matches finish, the wrestlers will take part in a developmental training session with all three teams.

“The Training session is a good way to get in more experience against other competitors. Although it is practice, experiencing different styles will go along way in developing the athlete’s competitive skills” – Coach Clayton

Last year, the men’s team placed 5th overall at the OUA Championships with the women placing 4th. Dana Campbell was ranked 5th nationally in her weight class and received a bronze medal at the OUA’s.

This weekend, the athletes are looking forward to competing against other wrestlers from around the province and work to improve their overall skills.
