Wrestling off to OUAs

| Wrestling

The Lakehead wrestling team is heading to McMaster University this weekend to compete in the OUA Wrestling Championships. Each athlete will be looking to earn their spot in the U Sports Championships later this month. To qualify for the U Sports Championships, wrestlers have to finish in the top three of their weight division. Universities are only allowed one wrestler per weight division.

Throughout the season, a number of Thunderwolves have been ranked nationally, including Marco Palermo, Jessica Bershatsky, Madison Clayton, Dana Campbell, Kevin Leatherdale, Tyler Ashurst, McKenzie Hall and Drew Anderson.

“Our goal is to qualify as many wrestlers to the U Sports Championship as possible” – Coach Clayton

The Action will commence and conclude on Saturday, Feb. 11, with preliminary matches beginning at 9:00 a.m.  Gold medal matches are slated to start at a 3:00 p.m.  Individual and team medals, as well as the OUA championship banners, will be presented following the championship.
