WVB STARTS REGULAR SEASON ON THE ROAD

| News, Volleyball (W)

Women (1-2 non conference)

The Lakehead Women’s Volleyball team starts the opening weekend of the OUA volleyball season on the road against York and Nipissing Universities this weekend.

“We play 2 very similar teams this weekend, both with so much to
prove in a new situation, as well as the regular season beginning.” – Coach Green

The T-Wolves will face York University (2-1 non-conference) first on Friday night. The York Lions are a team with a new coach and will be excited to impress. The Lions have multiple returners and have nearly the same lineup as last year. The returners bring experience, consistency and skills, and will be a potential tough contender in the East.

Lakehead will then travel to North Bay and play the Nipissing Lakers (1-2 non-conference) the following night. The ‘Wolves played the Lakers earlier this month losing 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-23). The Lakers are young but carry a number of skilled and physical players. They are a versatile team that digs well and has added more size at the net.

“We have to be cognizant of our desire to run a smooth offence and serve aggressively. Both of these teams will handle your easy serves and attack you in multiple ways.” – Coach Green

“We look forward to seeing how our athletes show grit and determination this opening weekend”, comments Coach Green. “A long pre-season training regiment closes with excitement this weekend as the real games begin.”
