Ciara Zarn to Join ‘Wolves Volleyball in 2016

Ahead of this weekend’s home games, Lakehead volleyball coach Chris Green announced another recruit for the program for 2016: Ciara Zarn, of Killarney, Manitoba.

“Ciara’s been a winner at everything she does, because she is dedicated to being the best she can be,” says Green.

Developed in Killarney (home of all-star libero, Breanne Hilhorst) by Coaches Dean Kachur and Terrill Outhwaite, Ciara’s drive to elevate her game and her conditioning has been fostered by great mentorship and motivation.

Current Coach, Terrill Outhwaite states, “I’ve had the privilege to work with Ciara the past 3 seasons. I’ve seen her develop into one of the premiere liberos her age in the country. Hard work, dedication, desire, drive, effort, and leadership are all terms used to describe Ciara. She plays with the confidence of a true champion and will continue to succeed in her career at Lakehead!”

Coach Dean Kachur adds, “I feel fortunate to have coached Ciara for so many years. Her work ethic is second to none. She played setter in grade 10 and lead her team to a Provincial Championship, and was named MVP. The best thing about Ciara is that she is an amazing teammate.”

Coach Green summarizes his recruitment of Zarn, saying, ”Ciara’s been on our coaching staff’s radar for a long time. We’ve seen her game mature and she demonstrates a professional approach to what she does on the court. We’re excited to add a player of her integrity and class to our program. She will come in everyday and make everyone around her better. I feel she will make her coaches proud and her family the same over her time at Lakehead. I am sure we will see a lot of her family, siblings Carleigh and Cody and parents Darren and Darla, in the Thunderdome. This is exactly the type of athlete we want to add to our team environment!”

Ciara states,”I’m excited to join the Thunderwolves program starting next fall. I decided to play for Lakehead because of the coaching staff and team. They were professional, extremely hardworking, and dedicated to the success of their program. I felt welcomed from the first time I visited Lakehead and I really enjoyed the positive atmosphere around the team. I’d like to thank coaches Kachur and Outhwaite for their time and dedication in helping me get me to where I am now.”
