After staving off elimination in London on Wednesday, the men’s basketball team face the Ryerson Rams on Saturday at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto. Game time is 8pm.
While the task set before them is a daunting one, the Thunderwolves see this game as an opportunity for greatness and growth for their youthful group that includes seven freshmen on the active roster.
Fourth year senior Alex Robichaud played his heart out in Wednesday’s first round playoff win, and hopes to extend his Lakehead career once more. He will likely be tasked with guarding Aaron Best, who is on the unofficial short list for OUA Player of the Year.
In terms of history, Lakehead owes Aaron Best and Ryerson an upset. Back in 2012 Ryerson and then-rookie Best sent Lakehead home in the OUA semi-finals. While Lakehead’s roster has been turned over from top to bottom since then, Thunderwolf Nation still lists that defeat highly on the ‘revenge list’ and would like nothing more than to check it off on Saturday night.
Webcast available via OUA TV, and the game will be carried on Rogers TV Toronto and Rogers Super Sports Pak (channel 450).
