Women’s Volleyball:

The Lakehead Women’s Volleyball are back at home for the second consecutive weekend as they take on the Brock Badgers.

The team hosted their first OUA season this past weekend against the York Lions – unfortunately the team were unable to register a win against their opponents, losing Friday and Saturday 3 sets to 0.

After the York matchup, the Thunderwolves sit at 6-8, good enough for 10th place in the OUA, but dropping them out of the 8th and final play-off spot. This weekend’s opponent, the Brock Badgers, sit 3rd (11-3) in the OUA with 2 games in hand on 2nd place Queen’s University.

Brock sit atop the OUA in Kills per Set (12.43 k/s), and are 2nd in Hitting Percentage (.239) and  3rd in Assists per Set (11.31 a/s). A strong team on the offensive side of the net, the Badgers denfensive side of the game should not be overlooked as they are 3rd in Blocks per Set (2.31 b/s) and 4th in Total Blocks with 125 across the season.

Your Thunderwolves will look to contain Emily Foest and Sadie Dick, who have been the main offensive pillars for the Badgers this season. Foest sits 5th in the OUA for Kills per Set (3.24) , and total Kills (175).  The Badgers also have at their disposal the setter with the most Assists per Set in the league. Mackenna Knox is first in the OUA with 10.21 a/s, nearly 2 more than her closest rival.
