After a slow start to the game, Winnipeg led 30-27 at halftime. Both teams found their shooting touches in the second half, scoring 24 points apiece.
The difference maker in the game was the final quarter, in which Winnipeg stretched their lead to 65-56 with under 6 minutes to play. That’s when Lakehead rolled off an 11-0 run to re-take the lead with under a minute to play.
The ‘Wolves led by three with under 15 seconds to play, and on a crafty inbounds play, threw an ally-oop to Bacarius Dinkins, who slammed it home to extend the ‘Wolves lead.
Although Jelane Pryce banked in a quick three on the following possession, Lakehead would hold on for the win.
Dinkins had team-high 26 points with 11 rebounds, while Henry Tan had 24 points, with three 3-pointers.
For the Wesmen, Jelane Pryce scored 26 points and Denzel Lynch-Blair scored 13 points with 9 rebounds.
