The women’s volleyball team were defeated 3-0 at the hands of the Guelph Gryphons on Thursday evening in their first match of the McMaster Thanksgiving Classic (19-25, 16-25, 16-25).

Leah Mousseau led the ‘Wolves with 7 kills followed by Kailan Robinson and Olivia Bowman with 6 kills apiece.
Defensively, rookie libero Alyssa Genereux had a total of 7 digs and Olivia Bowman ended up with 9 digs. As a team Lakehead totalled 5 service aces.
“I thought for the most part the girls played very well the game,” said coach Chris Green. “The game changed for us when our service began to break down, those were systematic adjustments that the girls have got to work through. Overall I feel the score is not indicative of how well they played; we lost a lot of long rallies and made a lot of great recoveries.”
“As always, in the pre-season everything is a work in progress and we will continue to work through that progress tomorrow. For the most part, as coaches we were very pleased with what we saw, we need more consistent execution in times of duress.”
