The women’s volleyball team came out flat on Saturday evening, dropping a 3-0 decision to the visiting York Lions (19-25, 18-25, 18-25).
The game was unfortunately determined not by the number of great plays made by the teams, but by the number of unforced errors committed. Both York and Lakehead seemed out of sync, combining for 21 service errors (York 13, Lakehead 8).
Those words seemed to resonate through the numbers from yesterday’s game to today, with the ‘Wolves hitting efficiency dropping from .330 on Friday to a meagre .011 Saturday.
Lakehead always seemed to be playing catch-up, enjoying the lead just twice in the entire game.
Leah Mousseau was the kill leader for Lakehead with 7 to go with 3 digs. Kailan Robinson had 3 kills and 10 digs, while libero Alyssa Genereux was busy keeping her team in it, making 17 digs.
For York, Heather Setka led with 12 kills.
Green looks forward to the next game, saying,
“We we will have to watch video, and work hard this week to get ready for the Brock Badgers in two weeks. Hopefully the lack of focus and attention to the details will create some fire this week to get ready for our next opponents. Ours is a young group that must find leadership and consistency.”
Lakehead volleyball resumes play in two week’s time, Nov 7 and 8 (2pm both days) in the Thunderdome against Brock.
