The women’s volleyball team were handed a 3-0 loss by the Guelph Gryphons on Thursday evening (25-18, 25-22, 25-13).
It was a tough night in the office for the Thunderwolves, who managed to put together some good runs, but not enough to translate into a set win.
Rheanna Geisel (photo left) brought her ‘A’ game, making 7 kills with no errors on 12 attempts. Along with 1 solo block and 5 block assists, Geisel was Lakehead’s leader with 10.5 points. Sara Potter was next with 6 kills and 3 block assists for 7.5 points.
“Jessica continues to show her growth in this game. Not flashy, but consistent and steady. She was a stable force at the net once again tonight,” commented Green.
Green continues, “Geulph ran exactly what we expected to see but in the end, we have to execute and tonight we fought the ball, not the opponent. That hurts especially when we had Guelph well scouted. Kudos to Sara Potter and Rheanna Geisel for their strong performance today. Now we need a few more to show up tomorrow because in this league it requires a full team effort.”
Lakehead will rematch against the Gryphons tomorrow evening at 8pm.
