Lakehead wrestling was in action in London on Saturday, competing in the Western Open.
The day featured many positive signs for Lakehead, with OUA championships just around the corner. Kelsey Dayler and Drew Anderson won their first medals of the season, Dayler’s being a bronze in the 67kg and Anderson’s a silver in the 100kg.
Rookie Dana Campbell won another silver medal in the 82kg, while Emma Horner won the bronze medal match in a very competitive 59kg division.
Rounding out the men’s results were Chris Waltner (photo left) with a silver in the 57kg, as he continues to get stronger as the season wears on.
Gary Lynch placed 5th in the 68kg, while Tyler Ashurst was 6th in the 76kg division.
“The tournament went well,” said coach Francis Clayton. This wiĺ be the last event before the OUA Championships, and we’re right where we want to be.”
The OUA Championships will be held on Feb 12 in Sault Ste Marie at Algoma U.
