The first match of the new year didn’t go as planned for the women’s volleyball team, who dropped their game against the Queen’s Gaels, 3-0 (17-25, 20-25, 23-25).
“Tonight’s game was another example of our team struggling to follow a game plan,” said coach Chris Green. “We didn’t block line like we said we would, and we didn’t serve the targets that we wanted to, and on the attack, we deviated from our plan as well.”
“We trained hard since the break, but we weren’t battle-ready,” continued Green, whose team hadn’t played a competitive game in 46 days (on Nov 29).
Leah Mousseau was the bright spot for the ‘Wolves on Friday, racking up 14 kills on 24 attempts with 5 errors (.375 eff), along with 7 digs. Libero Alyssa Genereux did all she could on defense to keep Lakehead alive in rallies, making 15 digs.
For the Gaels, Shannon Neville had 13 kills on 37 swings while Caroline Livingston had 6 kills on 17 attempts.
