The OUA announced the major award winners and all-stars for women’s volleyball today.
The Thunderwolves, who compete in the OUA West division, had two athletes recognized for their efforts during the 2014-15 season.
Jen Casey was recognized as an OUA West second team all-star, while Rheanna Geisel was named to the OUA West all-rookie team.
Casey, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, was a force on the left side for Lakehead this season, finishing with the second-most kills in the OUA with 242.
Middle hitter Rheanna Geisel, of Dauphin, Manitoba was a standout for the ‘Wolves this season as a starter and tough server. She also had 22 blocks with only 4 blocking errors.
Notes coach Chris Green , “We’d like to take this time to congratulate two talented athletes who were recognized by the OUA as divisional All-Stars.”
“First of all, Jen Casey has put up some impressive numbers in terms of the load she carries for this team. This is really just the beginning for Jen who will benefit greatly from her experiences this year.”
Green continues:
“Rheanna has shown us that the trust we put in her as a rookie has paid off. She has given us 100% from day one and after what she’s learned this season, will be even better and stronger moving forward. As a team we congratulate these young ladies and look forward to more great play from them in the future.”
“As a team we also acknowledge that these awards are a recognition of individuals, but whose accolades are a result of seizing the opportunity facilitated by great teammates.”
