The Lakehead Thunderwolves men’s basketball team (0-9) were defeated 85-69 by the the University of Toronto Varsity Blues (6-4) tonight at the Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport in Toronto.

Toronto held a small lead, 20-18, after 10 minutes and continued on in the second with a huge push that gave the Blues a 44-30 lead at halftime.

Lakehead closed the gap in the third quarter, outscoring the Blues 23-15, but still Toronto took a 59-53 lead going into the final quarter. U of T sealed the win with a dominant fourth quarter performance (26-16) finishing the game off with the 85-69 victory.

Lakehead’s Kache Kopec led all players tonight with 24 points. Mor Menashe had 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Nick Burke put up 10 points, respectively.

The Thunderwolves are back at it again tomorrow at 8pm against Ryerson in their last game going into the exam break.
