Lakehead post players Bacarius Dinkins and Taner Parrington were efficient on Friday, combining for 30 points on 20 shots, shooting 70% from the field, to carry the Thunderwolves past the Waterloo Warriors, 84-64.
It would take some doing in the second half for Lakehead to end up with such a lop-sided victory, as they were up 18-17 after 10 minutes, and trailed 43-40 at halftime.
The ‘Wolves halftime deficit stood despite shooting over 55% from the field. Their early weakness, despite Davis’ red-hot hand, was on the glass, with Waterloo out-rebounding Lakehead 23-13 in the first half.
As a team, Lakehead out-scored Waterloo 44-21 in the final 20 minutes, thanks in no small part to evening the rebounding numbers to 37 a side by the final buzzer.
Rookie Darnell Curtin (photo above) had his most productive game to date, scoring 10 points on 4-of-4 from the field. Alex Robichaud scored 13 points with 7 rebounds.
