Hill, White Highlight ‘Wolves at Nordic World Trials

Lakehead’s nordic skiers will test themselves against the best in the country at the Haywood Noram World Jr/U23 Cross Country Ski Trials. The race is also being counted as one of the annual Ontario Cup events. The races run from Thursday, Jan 14 to Sunday, Jan 17 at Lappe Nordic Ski Centre.

The top skiers from this week’s races will represent Canada at the World Championships, being held in Romania (Feb 23-28).

Lakehead’s top prospects heading into the races include Sadie White in the women’s U23 division, while Scott Hill is expected to make a strong case to return to the Canadian national U23 men’s team.

Lakehead skiers helped the host committee officially open the event Monday at the Prince Arthur Hotel.

“We’re hoping for a few athletes to qualify for the national team for sure, Scott and Sadie in particular, but for the team as a whole, this event serves as a good measure against the other university teams,” said Lakehead Coach Leif Lennie following the media conference Monday.
