Lakehead Athletics Announce Craig Barclay as New Women’s Volleyball Head Coach

Lakehead athletics is pleased to announce Craig Barclay as the new head coach of the Women’s Volleyball Program at Lakehead University.

Barclay graduated from Lakehead in 2008 and spent three years assistant coaching the Thunderwolves women’s volleyball team. He also spent time with the Superior North Volleyball club and is now currently finishing up his fourth season as head coach of the women’s volleyball team at Trent University.

“I look forward to welcoming Craig to the Thunderwolves family. Craig is a nice fit here and we feel he’s the right person to lead our volleyball program,” says Lakehead Athletics Director Tom Warden. “I’d like to thank the athletes and the assistant coaches in the Volleyball program for their patience and assistance through this selection process”.

Over the years Craig has gained experience and an understanding of the competitiveness of women’s volleyball in the OUA and looks forward to positively contributing to the future of Lakehead Volleyball.

“I am so excited to be joining Lakehead University and the Thunderwolves as Head Coach of the Women’s Volleyball Program. It brings me great joy to be returning to the program where I started my coaching career and the university from where I graduated. This season will be about growth and change but the already established work ethic and culture will make for an easy transition. I can’t wait to get on the court and start to work with the team as we move towards the beginning of our season and the goal to push for the playoffs.” – Craig Barclay
