Lakehead MBB to be Represented by Okafor, Sagl, Thomson in Upcoming CEBL Season

The Lakehead University Thunderwolves are pleased to announce that three of its Men’s Basketball program members will be participating in the CEBL’s 5th Season this summer.
Coach Thomson will be joining the Winnipeg Sea Bears as an Assistant Coach & as the Assistant General Manager for the duration of the CEBL season. “It’s a tremendous opportunity to continue to grow and improve as a coach. To get to work with and learn from Coach Taylor, Coach Brown and the rest of the staff is an excellent opportunity. I look forward to being able to continue developing and improving as a coach and I look forward to  continuing to help build Lakehead into a consistent and high-level program.”
Michael Okafor, a 6’4 guard from Toronto, Ontario, will be competing for the Winnipeg Sea Bears after signing his first professional contract.  Okafor comes off a terrific season with the Wolves which saw him named MVP of the Lakehead Men’s Basketball team and a second-team OUA West All-Star holding averages of 16.3 PPG, 6.1 RPG, 2.7 AST and 1.3 STL.
Okafor on the opportunity:  “I’m grateful for the career I had at Lakehead University. Thunder Bay is a special place that I will miss; the community, fans and atmosphere on game day made it an exciting place to play.  I’m grateful for having such an amazing team, coaches and staff. I’m very excited to start my professional career with the Winnipeg Sea Bears this summer and look forward to using this opportunity to further my development.”
Tyler Sagl, a 6’5 guard from Burlington, Ontario, will be competing for the Winnipeg Sea Bears after being drafted in the second round of the CEBL U-Sports draft on April 19. Sagl comes off a terrific first  season with the Wolves which saw him rank 3rd in U-Sports in 3P% at 45.7%. Tyler held averages of 8.4 PPG, 1.7 RPG and 1 AST.
Sagl on the opportunity:  “Being given the opportunity to play at a pro level means everything to me.  Since I was a kid I’ve wanted to pursue basketball as a career.  Being around pro coaches and players is going to help my development tremendously.”
The Sea Bears will open their season on May 27th against the Vancouver Bandits. Follow along with the action all season long with CEBL+.
