Yesterday the Lakehead Women’s Ultimate team competed in Kingston, ON at the Canadian Indoor University Series, one of 3 major indoor tournaments. The women had 4 games today against Waterloo A, Waterloo B, McMaster, and Carleton.
In their first game against Waterloo A, the girls came out steady as it was their first indoor game playing as a team. They fixed their minor errors throughout and managed to grab the win 17-14. In their next game against Waterloo B, Lakehead continued their fire and easily won 15-7. The Thunderwolves faced McMaster University for the first time in 3 years. Lakehead’s quickness and precise throws were no match, as the Thunderwolves won 18-11. In their last game of the day, Lakehead played against Carleton University. Continuing their fast pace and gritty defense, Lakehead took the win 18-7. Erin Murphy led the team with 17 goals with Lindsay Edward close with 14. Alicia Todd contributed with 11 goals, 15 assists, 8 D-blocks, and 1 layout, while Captain Jasmine Ferdousi put in 7 goals, 25 assists, 7 d-blocks, and 1 layout. The Lakehead Women’s Ultimate team play Queen’s University, then continue to playoffs tomorrow. Good luck!
